Self-employed people often track mileage in one app, receipts in a folder and everything else in a spreadsheet, then spend a weekend in April stitching it together. A mileage tracker that also organizes your other deductions saves that weekend.
Records made at the time of the trip carry far more weight than a log reconstructed months later.
This applies to self-employed people and independent contractors. W-2 employees generally cannot deduct unreimbursed work mileage on their federal return. Driving from home to a regular workplace is generally commuting and is not deductible. Trips between work locations, to clients or to temporary job sites generally are. If you have a home office that is your principal place of business, the rules are more favorable; confirm with a tax professional.
In AssetFlow (Pro plan and up), you log trips manually or record them with your phone's GPS while the app is open, and the same account holds your scanned receipts, forwarded email receipts and bank statements. Expenses are categorized automatically, and the document generator produces a full-year mileage log, an expense report and a tax summary that combines both.
AssetFlow costs $6/month (Base), $10/month (Pro, includes mileage tracking) or $19/month (Business, up to 10 team members), or $149/year for Business billed annually. 7-day free trial, no credit card required, then $1 for the first month.
For 2026 the IRS business rate is 72.5 cents per mile for January 1 to June 30 and 76 cents per mile from July 1 (IRS Notice 2026-10; IRS Announcement 2026-11). AssetFlow applies the rate for each trip date. Check irs.gov for the current rate. For 2025 it was 70 cents per mile.
You start and stop each GPS-recorded trip yourself, or enter trips manually. It does not detect drives in the background.
